NEW MEMBERS OF THE TEAM
We are pleased to welcome Dr Oxana Iwanskyj to the practice as a GP Registrar, on the 5th of August 2009. She is a qualified doctor who is training to become a GP. She has been working and training at hospitals in Nottingham, Shropshire and Burton and latterly at a general practice in Burton. She will be with us for sixteen months, during which time she will be learning all about General Practice.
The following are a list of our previous trainees :
Dr Dilshad Kidder
Dr Venkat Palanniapan
Dr Yogesh Sukkersudha
We continue to have various medical students from Derby and Nottingham for much shorter periods of time.
NHS Summary Care Record
You will soon receive your pack giving you all the information you will need to decide if you wish to have your Summary Health Care Record uploaded to the National System. This will enable Care Staff that do not have access to your FULL GP records to have some information that will enable them to better understand your Health Care needs when you access NHS care outside your usual GP Practice.
CHLAMYDIA SCREENING PROGRAM
The practice is taking part in the national chlamydia screening program for patients aged 24 or under. Both male and female patients can be screened for chlamydia using a simply collected urine sample or swab. The test result is confidential, and treatment for a psoitive result is simple and free. You can collect a test kit from the surgery nurses or doctors, or by calling 0800 0320899 or from www.b-clear.org.uk.
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease, often causes little or no symptoms, but can cause serious problems such as infertility.
NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM
The new practice computer system is up and running after a successful change over in July/August 2009. It has meant changes to how we perform most aspects of our work and is inevitably taking some getting used to. Sometimes, this has meant that some tasks have taken longer than they would previously, but this will get better as time goes on. We hope the disruption has not been excessive to our patients and would like to thank you all for your patiance.
REGISTRATION
New Patients wishing to register with the Practice will need to bring a form of identification for ALL members of the family they wish to register.
Passport or driving licence for adults and a birth certificate for children are acceptable.
